Getting Started at RVC

Ready to discuss your future? Meet with an Enrollment Coordinator to get started. They are available Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. to meet with future students and their families. Schedule an appointment online or call (815) 921-4000. Contact the RVC Welcome Center if you need help with any of the steps below at (815) 921-4000.

Step 1: Apply

Apply to Rock Valley College Online. Once your application is processed, you will receive an email to activate your online account. Still undecided? Come take a tour and meet with a New Student Enrollment Coordinator.

Step 2: Activate Your Online Account

Set up Your Technology. After your application is processed, set up a password to log into Self Service, Eagle, and your RVC email account. All college communications will be sent to this account moving forward. The first time you log in, you will need to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Setting up MFA is required to access your Self Service Account. The default method is the Microsoft Authenticator app, but other options are available by clicking "I want to set up a different method" in the lower left hand corner. For support, access the tutorial, call (815) 921-4000, or email RVC-Admissions@rockvalleycollege.edu.

Step 3: Determine Placement

All new students interested in enrolling in credit classes must meet placement requirements prior to registering for classes. Determine your placement.

We want to make sure your journey begins at the best place for you, so we will review your transcripts for the following multiple measures to establish your starting point:

  • High School Transcripts/College Transcripts
  • Cumulative High School GPA (within five years)
  • SAT, ACT, and/or GED scores (within three years)
  • Transitional courses in English and/or Math (within 18 months)
  • CASAS (120 days)
  • Placement Assessments: ACCUPLACER and ALEKS

Step 4: Register and Pay for Classes

As a college student, you need to select and register for classes each semester. But don't worry, we're here to help you find the right classes for your schedule. Meet with an Academic and Transfer Advisor by scheduling an appointment online or contacting (815) 921-4100 or emailing RVC-ATA@RockValleyCollege.edu.
