MyRVC

One-click access to Rock Valley College’s most used web resources is available through MyRVC.

In MyRVC, students can find links to:

MyRVC can also be accessed from any page on the Rock Valley College website by selecting MyRVC in the website header.

RVC Self Service

A wide variety of options and services are available through RVC Self Service.

Students can register for classes, review their class schedule, search for available courses, pay their bill, review grades, request transcripts, review financial aid status, update address information, and more.

To access Self Service, students need their student ID number (s‑number) and password.

RVC Student Password Policy

All new students are issued a username and password that provide access to RVC resources, including RVC EAGLE, RVC email, Self Service, and campus computers.

If a password is forgotten, students may use Password Management, contact the Admissions department or the Welcome Center at (815) 921‑4000, or email RVC Admissions. Students must include their student ID number.

All users of college IT systems are responsible for safeguarding their login credentials. Sharing IDs and passwords is strongly discouraged in accordance with the RVC Computer Use Policy.

A learning management system (LMS) provides a structured environment for delivering and managing course content. Rock Valley College uses Canvas as its LMS and brands it as EAGLE.

Through EAGLE, students can access course materials, submit assignments, participate in discussions, communicate with instructors, and view grades. All students enrolled in RVC credit courses are automatically provided with Canvas accounts.

RVC Email (Gmail)

Rock Valley College provides all credit students with an official student email account. This account is used for communication between students and campus offices.

Students should check their RVC email at least once every 24 hours for:

  • Important dates
  • Course waitlist updates
  • Campus events

Email access is available through RVC student email.

The email format is: first initial + middle initial + last name@Student.RockValleyCollege.edu
Example: John M. Smith → JMSmith@Student.RockValleyCollege.edu

Technical support for RVC email is available through EAGLE Support in ERC‑2402.

RVC Wi‑Fi

Rock Valley College provides wireless internet access across campus for students, faculty, and staff using Wi‑Fi‑enabled devices.

Login instructions are available on the RVC Wi‑Fi information page.

Microsoft Office 365

RVC students may install Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus at no cost on personal computers and mobile devices.

Office 365 includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote and may be installed on up to five personal computers and five mobile devices. Students need their student ID number and network password.

Center for Instructional Design, Teaching, and Innovation

The Center for Instructional Design, Teaching, and Innovation (CITI) supports the development of face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid courses.

CITI’s mission is to maximize educational opportunities, expand access to higher education through online technologies, and support faculty and students in the use of emerging instructional tools.

Distance Learning – Online and Hybrid Courses

Distance learning occurs when students and instructors are in different locations. At Rock Valley College, distance learning options include online and hybrid courses.

Online courses are delivered through Canvas EAGLE. Course materials and activities are completed independently, with both synchronous and asynchronous interaction. Some courses may require Honorlock for online testing.

Hybrid courses combine face‑to‑face instruction with online learning activities. Instructional time is distributed between in‑person and online components.

Information Technology

The Information Technology department designs, implements, and maintains Rock Valley College’s voice, video, and data systems for academic and administrative use.

Computer Labs

Rock Valley College maintains several computer labs for student use outside of scheduled classes. All labs provide internet access, EAGLE access, standard software, and printing.

Main campus computer labs are located in:

  • Educational Resource Center (ERC) – Library, first floor, Information Commons
  • Woodward Technology Center (WTC) – First floor, Room 1100

Additional locations include:

  • RVC Downtown – Second floor, Study Room 2114, (815) 921‑4290
  • Advanced Technology Center – Rooms 1310 and 1312, (815) 921‑4297

Computer Use Policy

All Rock Valley College computer hardware and software must be used in accordance with established rules and procedures.
